Letter from the 2014-2015 Scripps Quest Liaison
Welcome to the Scripps College Quest Scholars Network page!
My name is Jasmine Russell and I’m a sophomore at Scripps College, the greatest college on Earth! I’m dual majoring in Computer Science and Mathematics with a Feminist, Gender, and Sexuality Studies minor. But, of course, this is all subject to change… probably multiple times.
Scripps is the best four-year home a student could ask for: A small liberal arts women’s college nestled into a large consortium in gorgeous Claremont, California. Besides the palm trees, year-round warm weather, and abundance of sunshine, there are so many reasons to be a student here. We have amazing professors, dazzling courtyards, and dedicated, driven students. The support, resources, and opportunities that you will find here is unparalleled—yet if Scripps doesn’t have exactly what you’re looking for, students often cross-register and major through the other “5Cs”: Claremont Mckenna, Pitzer, Harvey Mudd, or Pomona. In this way, Scripps offers an intimate community of women with the resources of a co-ed university. A Scripps education will make you think differently about every aspect of your life. Scripps students are challenged to think critically about the commonsensical, everyday events normally taken for granted. How do we interact with our world, and why? Asking questions and challenging ideas are merely part of the daily grind here. This is how Scrippsies become today’s leaders, and by the Spring of 2018, this will be you!
As a rising sophomore, I can assure you that the transition to college is difficult—especially as a low-income (often first-generation) college student. That’s why the Scripps Quest Scholars are here to encourage you during tough times. We have many events (most of which involve food) during the school year to offer some relaxation for when things just get a little too tough. We invite you to join our community. We know you’ll fit right in.
Welcome to Scripps!
Your Quest Liaison,
