Letter from the Bowdoin Quest Liaison
My name is Victor Leos and I am honored to be the Quest Liaison for Bowdoin College. I am a sophomore here at Bowdoin and I hope to declare a coordinate major in Environmental Studies and Physics along with a minor in either Math or Anthropology. On campus I participate in our Latin American Student Organization, Latin-Afro Dance Group, Catholic Student Union, and McKeen Center for the Common Good. I also hold two on-campus jobs as a grill cook at one of our dining halls and as a math tutor for local elementary and middle schools. The activities that you have just read about in my profile are only a fraction of the available things to do on campus, each opening doors to many great things here at Bowdoin.
Despite coming a long way from the arid and mildly warmer temperatures of Texas, I have been able to make myself at home here in the beautiful (and cold) state of Maine, home of Bowdoin College. Though we are a small liberal arts college located at the tip of the United States, this a place of great diversity and opportunity. Here you can take a wide array of classes ranging from Native American stereotypes to atmosphere and ocean dynamics. At Bowdoin you can also do research with a professor while being part of an intramural sport and writing slam poetry on the side. The point I am trying to make here is that Bowdoin not only offers a vast amount of activities, but also the opportunity to do as many as you see fit.
I chose to apply to Bowdoin because of its ability to make you feel at home even if you are 2000 miles away, to allow you to take courses in the sciences and the humanities, and to help you grow academically, socially, and individually as a part of an overall community. As Quest Scholars, we have the ambition to make the most of ourselves, and here at Bowdoin that ambition is put to the test. The test only has one question: what will you do at Bowdoin College?
