Letter from the Amherst Quest Liaison

On behalf of the more than 150 Quest Scholars at Amherst, I would like to welcome you to our chapter page! My name is Carlos Gonzalez, and I am serving as Amherst Quest Liaison for this year. As an Amherst Quest Scholar, you are joining a diverse, tight-knit community of about 1,700 passionate and dedicated scholars, athletes, and leaders. Despite our varying backgrounds and interests, all Amherst students and alumni wear a common hat: we are proud Jeffs, and we are excited to welcome you to our family!

It is no coincidence that Amherst consistently appears at the top of all major liberal arts college rankings. Our open curriculum grants students the absolute freedom to explore their academic interests. Small class sizes allow students the opportunity to build mentorship relationships and take advantage of one-on-one research opportunities with their professors. A plethora of student organizations enriches the educational experience and personal development of students. Generous alumni contributions allow the College the resources to fund numerous research opportunities and internships. Lastly, our lush campus overlooking the Pioneer Valley mountain range serves to inspire and stimulate the creativity of every Amherst student. Simply put, Amherst is an amazing place to live and learn.

The Amherst Quest Scholars Network Chapter has been a part of the campus since 2010. We are committed to outreach and are passionate about sharing the QuestBridge message of possibility to high-achieving low-income students in the Pioneer Valley. With your support and involvement, we can continue to build on our past success and expand our outreach efforts in the coming year. In addition to growing our outreach initiatives, we would like to continue supporting the personal development of our Scholars by providing a strong support system, as well as more leadership opportunities for members of the chapter.
