Letter to Quest Scholars

Welcome, Quest Scholars!

The launch of the Quest Scholars Network (QSN) has been a long time in the making. We are delighted to bring you an interactive website to serve as a virtual meeting point for all Quest Scholars, both current and future. Our small team, including Taylor Altman and Ziyan Chu, have helped make this website a place to showcase your experiences as a Quest Scholar in college and beyond, which in turn we hope will inspire prospective QuestBridge applicants. You, to them, are very real examples of what is possible when you set your eyes on the prize. We want them to know that highly competitive scholarships from QuestBridge partner colleges can help them reach their maximum academic potential.

As beneficiaries of the QuestBridge National College Match, you are at the heart of the QSN, a national network for Quest Scholars. Our hope for the QSN, and by extension this website, is that it will be fueled by your mutual respect and support for one another. When we receive your emails, facebook postings, hand-written letters, artwork, and lovely news of your life in college, we see a spirited collage of people whose full potential is still evolving. The enthusiasm we've seen in your desire to connect, not only on each campus, but also across campuses, is inspiring to all of us who work here. This website has been the intentional outcome of seeing how much your sense of connectedness and community enhances your experience as Quest Scholars. When you gather in the fall to meet incoming students, spot a Quest t-shirt across campus, and gather for Quest dinners and fun events, we are also thinking about the next phase of growth for this program: bringing more opportunities and resources to you.

When I applied to Amherst College in my home state of Massachusetts, I told my sister “If we’ve never heard of it, it can’t be that hard to get into.” But attending Amherst as the first in my generation to attend college, I didn’t know there would be so many unexpected adjustments. In this way, coming to work at QuestBridge, which was a program geared only to high school students, I saw the imperative and opportunity to build a recognizable community to support, encourage, and inspire each other. This long awaited website has far to go, but look how far we have all come just since the inception of the Quest Scholars Network only a few years back. In tandem with QSN campus chapters, we invite you to increase the socio-cultural impact of our small but far-reaching educational non-profit.

To this end, we want your feedback and help adding to our website: your website! This is the place where we will link Quest Scholars with one another–and the world will see what you do with your educational opportunities. What is most distinctive among Quest Scholars is their persistent desire to give back. Our program’s global impact will become clearer as Quest Scholars everywhere begin to connect as mentors, liaisons, ambassadors, group leaders, interns, grant awardees, and chapter members. I see the QSN as a nexus for all the passionate efforts simmering in the minds of Quest Scholars today.

To non-Quest Scholar visitors to this site, please feel free to browse around and learn more about our Scholars, partner colleges, and the potential that comes from bringing them to the forefront of education in this country. Through our QuestBridge partner colleges and continuing relationships with Quest Scholars, we aspire to play a vitally important role in changing the landscape of educational opportunity. We aim to make this website a genuine reflection of what is possible when the playing field of college admissions is leveled.

Quest Scholars: your participation and ongoing connection to us through the QSN website is essential for supporting current and future Quest Scholars. Please send us your photos, stories, and videos of campus. With your help, we can create a supportive and joyful community along with providing inspiration to many more students with goals and dreams much like your own.

Shine on!

Nancy
